Value Poster

Based on our lecturer's Phd project, we underwent a very exciting and interesting project, discovering our values as a designer. We initially carried out an eulogy test which produced a few goals that we can carry as a designer. We participated in a value/personality test which demonstrated what kind of a perssn we are. Eg. Kind-hearted, enthusiastic. Our aim was to then construct a sentence with our goal and value type. My sentence was "I will always stand up for the truth by being committed."

Opposites

Our new brief involved looking at opposite words like our previous typography project and using marks to express the words. The words I chose were happy & sad, dark & light and  chaos & order. Our aim was to create a design piece which included the word, its definition and marks which express the word from a chosen object. The object I chose to create my marks was lipstick. Our goal was to go wild and creative with mark making!

After completing our first info graphic, our aim was to develop a second one using the same information but with a completely different layout. I chose a menu type layout and changed my color scheme to natural earthy colors.

After completing our pictograms, we developed one pictogram into an info graphics. Initially we had very little information about info graphics but after conducting research, we were ready to create our own ones.
The category I developed was fish and my aim was to focus of 3 different types of fish and the flavours that complement them. I chose sushi, pink fish and octopus and developed pictograms based on further primary research. I then brainstormed ideas on various info graphic layouts and colour schemes.

Pictograms final

For my final set of four pictograms, I developed my colour scheme completely and painted with watercolours to produce a pastel natural look.

By the second week, our aim was to develop a final set of pictograms from our drawings. This set was then further explored using various mediums, eg. Ink, Marker and Pencil. I chose my ink versions because I was planning to use watercolours for my final set of colour pictograms and I concluded that my ink version would best suit this choice.

I chose earthy colours of red, green and brown as my colour palette because I wanted my pictograms to look natural and fresh.
